John Paul (“JP”) Schnapper-Casteras is the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Collective Global. Since 2020, he has worked as outside counsel to Collective’s direct venture capital platform, Amplo, advising on more than $125 million in early-stage financings. He has also counseled a wide variety of technology startups and non-profits and co-authored over 30 briefs in the Supreme Court of the United States. JP serves as the Chair of the Board of the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights — and on the Executive Committee for Friends of the Institute for Advanced Studies. He clerked on the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit as well as on the US Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. JP received his JD with Pro Bono Distinction from Stanford Law School, where he won the Walter J. Cummings Award for Best Brief as a Finalist in the Kirkwood Moot Court Competition, was a member of the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic, and was Managing Editor of the Stanford Law & Policy Review. He holds an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School and an MA and BA with honors from Stanford University. As an undergraduate, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Scientific Review and founded the first student exchange program in postwar Iraq.
